Biography
Dr. Richard N. Eisen is a board-certified pathologist with more than three decades of experience in diagnostic pathology, immunohistochemistry, surgical pathology, and academic medicine. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as a clinician, educator, researcher, and professional leader, earning recognition for his contributions to pathology practice, laboratory quality, and physician education.
Dr. Eisen earned his Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from Union College and received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He completed internship training in Internal Medicine followed by residency, chief residency, and fellowship training in Surgical Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine. He subsequently joined the Yale faculty, where he held academic appointments for more than twenty-five years and served in numerous teaching and leadership roles.
His professional experience includes serving as Attending Pathologist at Greenwich Hospital and Yale-affiliated institutions, where he directed multiple laboratory services, including Immunohistochemistry, Histology, and Anatomic Pathology. Since 2015, he has served as an Attending Pathologist with Banner Thunderbird Medical Center and Banner University Medical Center and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pathology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Dr. Eisen has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national pathology guidelines. A recognized authority in immunohistochemistry and laboratory quality, he has held leadership positions with the College of American Pathologists, the Society for Applied Immunohistochemistry, and the Arizona Society of Pathologists. His extensive clinical, academic, and leadership experience reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing diagnostic excellence and improving patient care.
